Mahman (ماه مان) Series

Mahman (ماه مان) is an ongoing series centred on a recurring moon-like face that sits between abstraction and portrait. The circular form appears contained within a defined space, yet seems to push beyond it, creating a tension between closeness and distance.

The title combines the Persian words mah ماه (moon) and maman مامان (mother). Although the face began as a study of my own mother, it has developed into a broader symbol of maternal presence. The moon becomes a way of thinking about cycles, the divine feminine, our connection to nature, and protection.

By returning to the same structure across multiple paintings, I explore how small shifts in colour, line and expression can change the emotional tone of the image. Each work asks how something intimate and personal can also feel universal.
